Class lists

Teaching at the Pennsic War

I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others who are researching the same topics as I am. Within the SCA I have taught numerous classes on equestrian related topics, history, and genealogy. I started to teach equestrian classes at Pennsic in 2009 when I saw that there were few, if any, classes being offered on the subject. During my years of attending Pennsic, I was disappointed to see so few classes being taught on this subject. I believe this resulted in lost opportunities to promote the equestrian program, get information out about horses in the SCA, and provide the program with some much needed exposure. And so, I decided to try to fill this void. Every year since 2009, I have offered equestrian related classes at Pennsic, as well as at Æthelmearc War Practice and other events. As the Kingdom Equestrian Officer, I encouraged equestrians to teach and share their knowledge as well.

In addition to classes, I have conducted several training sessions for Equestrian MiTs (Marshals in Training) and for Equestrian Marshals who want to marshal and conduct Mounted Archery activities. The experience I gained from teaching equestrian related classes gave me enough confidence to consider teaching other subjects. These included some of the other areas of my research. The classes I have taught are listed below. Many of the class notes and handouts from this list are posted (or will be posted) on this blog. If someone wants further information about a particular class, including lesson plans or advice, I invite them to contact me.
